Local churches and other area nonprofits indulge our holiday mood by selling festive greenery and other seasonal decorations in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Here are some locations in the Reporter Newspapers communities where you can find greenery sure to brighten your holiday season.
Brookhaven Christian Church celebrates the season with their 20th annual holiday greenery sale. Proceeds benefit the church’s community service programs. A canned food drive for the Suthers Center is underway; for every canned goods donation, the church will take $5 off any tree.
When: Friday, Nov. 30, 2:30-9 p.m. Sale continues daily, until all of the trees find homes! Monday-Friday, 2:30-9 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m.; Sunday, 12:30-9 p.m.

How much: Full range of Fraser fir sizes, from 3-11 ft., prices $35-$200+. Wreaths also for sale. Complimentary scrap greenery.

The Buckhead Optimist Club holds their annual Christmas tree sale at Phipps Plaza. A Buckhead tradition for over 20 years, all proceeds are donated to charities supporting children – the Brookhaven Boys and Girls Club, DeKalb YMCA Partner with Youth program, Children’s Healthcare, Simon Youth Foundation, Foster Care Support and the Truancy Intervention program.
When: Friday, Nov. 30, 5-9 p.m. Lot is open Monday-Friday, 5-9 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Until all the trees are gone!

How much: Prices start at $40 for a 5-6 ft. Fraser fir, and go up to $150 for a 10-11 ft. tree – all freshly cut in Western N.C. Holiday wreaths also available for @$25.

The Dunwoody United Methodist Church holds its Christmas tree sale, an annual event for over 30 years. The lot is staffed by more than 100 youth, parent and adult volunteers. Proceeds benefit Youth Ministry mission trips and the summer choir tour. The tree lot is a major fundraiser for church service projects.
When: Friday, Nov. 30, 2-8 p.m. The lot is open Monday-Friday, 2-8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Sunday, 12-8 p.m. Sale continues through Dec. 19, or until all the trees have found a family!
Where: 1548 Mount Vernon Road, Dunwoody, 30338.
How much: Pick from a selection of Fraser firs from a farm in Western N.C., cut just days before arrival. Trees run from 5 to 11 feet tall, with prices from $55 to $120. The church also sells 24” and 30” wreaths.

St. John United Methodist Church’s Christmas tree lot, providing the area with holiday greenery since 1972, specializes in tall trees, 10-17 feet. They also offer free delivery and set-up inside your home. Proceeds benefit the church’s youth and children’s programs.
When: Friday, Nov. 30, 10 a.m-7 p.m. Lot is open daily, Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; Sunday, 12-7 p.m. Sale continues through Dec. 20.
Where: 550 Mt. Paran Road, Sandy Springs, 30327.
How much: Wide range of Fraser firs from Western N.C. Prices start at $35-$40 for 4-5 ft. trees, up to $500 for a 17-ft. tree. Holiday wreaths, $20-$25; garland also available. Tree stands can be purchased separately for $35.
