The steel frame has been erected for the academic building at Chamblee Charter High School. Reconstruction of the school is expected to be done in about a year, school officials say.

The steel frame is rising for the new classroom building at Chamblee Charter High School. School officials say the building is scheduled to open for classes in about a year.

“We’re still on schedule for opening December 2013,” Joshua L. Williams, executive director of facilities management for the the operations division of DeKalb County school system, said during a meeting of the Dunwoody Parents Council on Dec. 5.
The school natatorium also is on schedule to open in December 2013, Williams told more than 45 parents during the meeting at Chamblee Middle School.

A new auditorium planned for the campus as part of the $72 million reconstruction project will open in July 2014, school officials said. Work on the auditorium can’t begin until demolition of the old high school building is complete, officials said.
