The developer behind Buckhead Atlanta has applied for three building permits to develop nearly 2 million square feet of the mixed-use project.
Contractors for San Diego-based OliverMcMillan filed applications at the end of November and the beginning of December for parcels A, B and C. Parcel C is the largest of the three and contains part of what was formerly known as the Streets of Buckhead project, which failed during the recession.
Parcel C contains 1.2 million square feet designated for mixed use and the application lists the construction cost as $97.4 million.
The total construction cost for all three parcels is $152 million, according to the permit applications.
Balfour Beatty Construction will build the development, spanning six city blocks. Construction officially began in August when cranes started moving at the site.

New Permits Sought as Buckhead Atlanta Continues Construction
ATLANTA – Construction is progressing at Buckhead Atlanta, the Southeast’s newest luxury destination in the heart of Georgia’s capitol city. Over the past month, developer OliverMcMillan has applied to the City of Atlanta for building permits for Parcels A and C, keeping the six-block, 8-acre project moving ahead.
Contractor Balfour Beatty is continuing construction activities, including selective demolition, forming work and concrete pouring. The ground-floor retail space that will become a focal point for Buckhead Atlanta is well underway along Pharr Road, where the new home to French high-fashion house Hermès will be located.
Activity has also started in the second block of Buckhead Atlanta. Work on “Parcel A,” where high-end retail and restaurants will border Peachtree Street, is now underway. A second tower crane is moving materials in this area, creating a dramatic backdrop for commuters.
“We are actively under construction now, and we continue working with the City of Atlanta to obtain the permits as-needed,” said OliverMcMillan’s Managing Director of Development Hunter Richardson. “We’ve just begun work on Parcel A and are continuing work on Parcel C, where Hermès and the two apartment towers will be located. We have strong interest in the project and are pleased with our progress on multiple fronts. We are hitting important milestones.”
The new shops and businesses will be a vibrant addition to the Buckhead village and will fit seamlessly into the fabric of the existing area. OliverMcMillan will create a lush landscape with varied store fronts at Buckhead Atlanta, creating a walkable and unique shopping district that cannot be replicated anywhere in Atlanta or the Southeast.
The completed project will offer 300,000 square feet of upscale retail stores, restaurants and cafes, over 100,000 square feet of office space and 370 luxury high-rise residences. Buckhead Atlanta will total around 1.5 million square feet.
