Anyone looking for a truly one-of-a-kind gift this holiday season need look no further than the Bucks on the Street online auction, which continues through Dec. 31. Twenty buck statues, each beautifully hand painted by a local artist, are up for bid with proceeds benefiting Livable Buckhead’s greenspace work.

The online auction is the culmination of Bucks on the Street, a two-year project in which local businesses sponsored bucks that were decorated to their liking and displayed at their businesses throughout Buckhead. The bucks have been gathered and are now on display on the second level of Lenox Square Mall and outside near the valet entrance and Macy’s.

“We’re thrilled that Simon Properties allowed us to display all the bucks together at the mall,” said Donna Kain, co-chair of Bucks on the Street. “They have generated a lot of interest and people are having a great time taking their pictures with them. It’s exactly the kind of excitement we envisioned when Elizabeth Gill and I started the project.”

The starting bid for each buck is $250, and each eight-foot statue has a “buy it now” price of $5,000. If a winning bid exceeds $1,000, the amount above that is a charitable donation and is tax deductible. All proceeds from the auction will benefit Livable Buckhead, a nonprofit organization that is leading an effort to increase greenspace throughout Buckhead.
