The family of a man who died earlier this year is planning to donate a sculpture to be placed in Allen Road Park, a place he played as a boy.
Jay Block told city officials he wanted to install the bronze statue set in the park in memory of his late son, David Robert Block, who died Aug. 14 at age 44.
The statue depicts children playing on the back of a turtle, which is Sandy Springs’ unofficial city mascot. “I particularly like it has a turtle in it,” Mayor Eva Galambos said.
