Forget those misguided Mayan prophecies that time would end in 2012. In the Reporter Newspapers communities, think of 2012 as a year for new beginnings.

Brookhaven was born. Sandy Springs drew up a new plan for its downtown. Buckhead’s North Atlanta High got a new principal, and Dunwoody spun new arguments over trees and trails as its new mayor and a city councilwoman fussed over who told what to whom and when.

It was quite a year. This issue we take a quick look back at some of the highlights of 2012.

We also present some of our favorite photos that appeared on covers of Reporter newspapers during 2012.

And get ready for 2013. There’s just no telling where things are heading now.
