Sandy Springs has invited Rodney Bullard, Executive Director of the Chick-fil-A Foundation, to speak at its annual Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration.

The event will be held on Jan. 21 at City Hall and the city will announce the winner of its 2013 Humanitarian Award during the event.

The city in its weekly newsletter published Jan. 7 confirmed the list of special guests for the event.

According to the newsletter, the event will also include “special musical guest, Michael Night. Students from Spalding Charter Elementary School and North Springs Charter High School will also participate.”

The city is still taking nominations for the award and people can download the nomination form by clicking here. The deadline for submissions is Jan. 10.

“The Humanitarian Award recognizes an individual who exemplifies King’s history of character and service,” city spokeswoman Sharon Kraun said via email. “Nominees must live or work within the city of Sandy Springs to be eligible for nomination.”
