Members of the Ridgeview Charter School music department visited New Orleans March 13-17. The group included 237 Ridgeview music students and 47 chaperones. They studied the music and history of New Orleans and performed service projects by carrying books to schools in LaPlace, La., which was flooded by Hurricane Isaac in the fall of 2012, and clearing lots in the Ninth Ward of New Orleans, which was damaged by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The Ridgeview musicians also performed with professional jazz musicians Matt Lemmler and the New Orleans Revival Band.
