Trinity Presbyterian Church will host a free public forum May 9 on guns and the gospel.

The forum sponsored by the Buckhead church will feature guest speakers from federal and local law enforcement agencies, Grady Hospital and representatives from Georgians for Gun Safety and Mayors Against Illegal Guns, the church said in a press release.

“We at Trinity feel that our church community is called to the issue of gun violence by our concerns about the epidemic of mass shootings and by the thorough and thoughtful study ‘Gun Violence and Gospel Values’ that has been adopted by the Presbyterian Church (USA),” said Sandra Mackey, a member of Trinity’s Committee on Public Safety Initiative.

“Guns in America is an emotional and complex issue. There is not one answer to the challenge of making our communities safer while protecting what many regard as a basic right to own a gun. For this reason, we ask you to join us in the search for facts, researched information and sensible measures to improve the safety of our community.”

Trinity Presbyterian is located at 3003 Howell Mill Road. The  forum begins at 7 p.m. May 9.
