Heavy rain on Wednesday took a toll on the city of Sandy Springs infrastructure. City spokeswoman Sharon Kraun reports that Lake Forrest Drive , between Lake Summit and Chevaux Court, will be closed through June 14, possibly longer.

Here is Kraun’s full statement.

SANDY SPRINGS (June 7, 2013) – The closure of Lake Forrest Drive, between Lake Summit and Chevaux Court, will remain in effect at minimum through Friday, June 14. The City is waiting on results from an engineering analysis regarding stability of the slope along the road. Recent and projected rains have caused concerns regarding rock fall and slope hazards in the area.

Drivers traveling south are asked to detour from Lake Forrest Dr. to Stewart Drive to Roswell Road, onto Maryanna Drive which will connect you back to Lake Forrest. For those traveling northbound, please take Maryanna Drive north to Roswell Road to Stewart Drive, connecting back with Lake Forrest.

There will be additional signage in the area to help direct you.

Drivers are asked to use extreme caution and maintain the posted speed limits along the detour routes. Updates will be provided, as further information is available.
