North Springs Charter High School has a new principal, the school announced June 14.

Dr. Eddie Ruiz of Orlando, Fla., will begin work June 17, the school said. Ruiz is a former principal at two middle schools, assistant principal at two high schools, high school science teacher and coach.

“He has great experience and credentials that make him a great fit for your school,” Karen Cox, area superintendent for Fulton County Schools said in a letter to parents announcing the new principal. “He is the right person, at the right time, for North Springs.”

Ruiz said his “number one goal this summer is to listen and learn from as many teachers, parents, staff and students that I encounter about the culture, traditions and history of North Springs.”

“I look forward to being a Spartan,” he said, “and to working togehter to bring North Springs Charter High School to the next level.”

North Springs governance board chairwoman Betty Klein said the board was impressed by Ruiz’ energy, enthusiasm and experience. “We welcome him an dlook forward to his leadership and to working with him,” she said.
