The Community Assistance Center’s food pantry is in “urgent need” of food and school supplies, the organization announced in an email July 18.

The CAC pantry, which provides food to the needy in Sandy Springs and Dunwoody, said it is suffering from a shortage of summer donations. The pantry asked for contributions of soup, canned pasta meals, canned tuna, canned meats, chili, corn, peas, tomato sauce, rice and cereal.

The CAC also asked for donations of large back packs and school supplies for high school students. The organization said it needed 150 backpacks, 150 packages of ink pens, 300 erasers and 500 folders.

Donations can be delivered to the Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. The organization is located at 1130 Hightower Trail in Sandy Springs. Financial donations can be made online at www.oucac.org, the organization said.

The CAC is supported by 30 religious congregations, public and private grants, civic organizations, schools, businesses and individuals.
