The following incidents and arrests are some but not all of the reports filed with SSPD over the listed period, dated through July 19.
The following information was provided by the Sandy Springs Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.
7100 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On July 6 a man reported that around 11 p.m. on the previous night, he was assaulted by several young men who robbed him of $60 cash and his cell phone. He said one man grabbed him by the neck while the others went through his pockets. The victim had minor scrapes. He reported the robbery a day late because he had no phone to use.
4700 block of Roswell Road 30342 – On July 6 a man told police that he was walking to the front of his apartment complex around 9 p.m. when he was assaulted by two men who took his necklace. One man pulled a semi-auto pistol on the victim.
1000 block of Brentwood Way 30350 – On July 8 the victim said he and another person who is the second victim are music producers. They arranged a recording session with an unidentified customer. When that time came, five men showed up, all saying they were “musical artists.” The victim took the “artists” to the bedroom to record some music. One of the “artists” pulled a gun and hit one of the victims in the face. They tied up the victims and stole two laptops and amplifiers before leaving in a silver, four-door Mercedes.
6900 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On July 12 a man reported that he arranged to meet another man over career topics he is studying in school. He met the man in the parking lot of the apartments around 4:30 p.m. The victim said he was meeting with the man when his phone went off. He pulled the phone from his pocket which exposed his money. The man grabbed his money and got into his car to flee. The victim held onto the car which became mobile. The car hit another car which threw the victim from the car. He received minor cuts and bruises to his leg. The victim said the suspect got $150 dollars from him. The suspect was driving a silver, four-door Acura, which should have extensive damage to it.
6300 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On July 13 a man said that he left the grocery store around 9 p.m. He was at the bus stop when he was approached by two men, one of whom pulled a gun and robbed him. He said that he was hit on the head by the gun when he told the men he had no money. The victim then ran.
6300 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On July 14 a man reported that he was leaving work just after 11 p.m. when, after he was seated in his car, he was robbed at gunpoint by two men. The victim ran from the car to inside his business while the two men took his 2000 Honda Civic and drove off. After a lookout was posted, another officer on I-285 West spotted the car and for a brief time, the car attempted to elude the police vehicle. The suspect car wrecked on I-285 near New Northside Drive; however the two suspects fled and were not apprehended.
7900 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On July 15 a woman reported that around 4 p.m. she exited a bus and was walking to the nearby QT when two men came up on her and grabbed her purse. She struggled with the men but eventually they got the purse and fled south on Roswell Road.
1000 block of Spalding Forest Court 30350 – On July 6 the victim had been gone for a couple of weeks and upon his return home, found his PS3 game system missing. Nothing else was taken. No forced entry was found.
300 block of Long Grove Court 30328 – On July 7 the victim said that someone entered the home by unknown means and took several items of jewelry.
500 block of Spalding Drive 30350 – On July 8, responding to an alarm call, officers found a door that had been forced open. Several items had been taken from the home.
6300 block of Powers Ferry Road 30342 – On July 12 the victim said someone entered the home through a kitchen door. Several items were ransacked and looked through in the home including a fire box. Nothing appeared to be missing at the time of report.
6300 block of Ferry Drive 30328 – On July 13 the resident of the home reported that they were gone during the evening hours, and when they returned home, they found that someone had entered the home, ransacked through it, and had taken several items including two cameras and lenses. No forced entry was found.
6100 block of Ferry Drive 30328 – On July 13 the victim said she was gone for a day and upon return, found that someone threw a rock through a window and entered the home. Several items were taken. Officers recovered some items outside of the residence.
200 block of Hanover Park Road 30328 – On July 13 someone broke a window leading into the non-residential building. A laptop was taken.
5500 block of Spring Creek Lane 30350 – On July 14, sometime between 4 and 6 p.m., someone entered the victim’s apartment by forcing a door. A Sony laptop, Canon digital camera and other items were taken.
5600 block of Roswell Road 30342 – On July 15 a resident said someone came into his apartment and took a TV, iPad, laptop and several other items.
5500 block of Peachtree Dunwoody Road 30342 – On July 15 someone forced entry into a doctor’s office and took several desktop computers and an iPad.
5000 block of Lake Island Drive 30328 – On July 16 someone attempted to enter the home through a rear door. Although one of the glass panes was broken, it appeared that the burglar was unable to get in and left.
5000 block of Vernon Springs Trail 30328 – On July 16 the victim reported that she returned home from work in the afternoon and found that someone had entered her home and ransacked the area. Several items were taken. She found that a gun was missing and a pillow case was taken, probably to store the stolen items.
900 block of Sandalwood Drive 30350 – On July 16 someone entered the victim’s apartment through a back door. Several items were taken.
Hardeman Drive 30342 – On July 18 the resident returned home around 5 p.m. and found that his back door was forced open. He found muddy shoe prints on the floor and realized that someone had taken a flat-screen TV and two laptops.
6400 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On July 6 two people ordered $24 in alcoholic beverages at Flashers and then left without paying.
6400 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On July 6 a man reported that a briefcase containing cash and documents were missing from the trunk of the rental car that he parked in the parking lot of Flashers. He thinks that he accidentally opened the trunk on his key remote as he walked into the club.
8300 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On July 7 a man reported that someone stole a mountain bike from the front of the Northridge Kroger store. The man said he locked the front and back wheels but didn’t secure it to a fixture. Someone came by, picked up the bike with the locked front and back wheels, and left with it. The victim said he saw a burgundy Mazda with his bike in the trunk. The car left on Northridge and then went to Colquitt Road.
1000 block of Johnson Ferry Road 30342 – On July 7 an employee of McDonald’s, located inside Northside Hospital, reported that her phone was taken by one of her co-workers as it sat unattended in the break room. Video showed that the person, whom she referred to as the co-worker, walked into the break room and put the phone in his gym bag.
A man reported that he loaned his car to a friend in February. The friend said the car broke down in some unknown apartment parking lot. He doesn’t know where it is.
6300 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On July 8 someone broke into the Coke machine at Mikael’s Auto Spa overnight and took about $100 in coins and cash.
1100 block of Perimeter Center 30328 – On July 8 a woman reported that she was dining at the La Madeline restaurant when her wallet was taken. Soon after, several credit cards were used for about $1,200. The victim said another woman was sitting “extremely” close to her and she thinks this person may have taken the wallet.
6800 block of Hunter’s Trace 30328 – On July 9 a man reported that someone stole his Waste Management trash receptacle.
300 block of Tara Trail 30342 – On July 9 a resident reported that someone stole diamond earrings from her home between May 23-25 of this year.
1000 block of Johnson Ferry Road 30342 – On July 10 a woman reported that she left her wallet in the emergency room waiting area for five minutes while she spoke to hospital staff personnel. When she returned, the wallet was gone.
1800 block of Brandon Hall Drive 30350 – On July 10 someone took an outboard boat motor and a red 5-gallon gas can from the driveway of the victim’s home. A witness said he saw a SUV back into the driveway at about 10:30 a.m., and a man with a short “military” haircut got out of the car. A few minutes later, the car was gone.
8700 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On July 10 a man was caught at Publix stealing a pack of batteries, which he placed in his pants. He paid for some of his other items but not the $8 batteries. He was charged on a copy of charges pending a court date.
On July 10, a woman on Marsh Trail Circle said someone stole a cup of cooking oil from her apartment.
500 block of Northridge Road 30350 – On July 11 a woman reported that she left her wallet on top of her briefcase in her cubicle for an hour and a half, and when she returned, the wallet was gone. Later, she found that her iPad was gone, too.
700 block of Starlight Drive 30342 – On July 11 a woman reported that she saw a blue Cadillac station wagon stop at her mailbox. A woman in the passenger’s seat reached into her mailbox and removed the mail. The car drove to the dead end and reappeared a couple of minutes later. The car was driven by a man. The woman looked to have long braids. Stolen were checks written by the victim.
8000 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On July 11 a man reported that he left his office for three hours and when he returned, his laptop was missing from his desk. Office video showed a man getting on an elevator just after noon and was later seen leaving with what appeared to be something in his hand. Another employee of the office said that about that time, she heard the side door to the office close but didn’t see anyone.
500 block of Abernathy Road 30328 – On July 12, while patrolling an apartment complex, an officer ran the tag on a VW Passat. The tag indicated the car was stolen in Atlanta on July 3. It was impounded and the owner was notified.
6300 block of Powers Ferry Road 30342 – On July 12 a man reported that he was at the bar at the Wyndham Hotel. He was talking to a man named “Russ.” The victim said he recalls when he left to return to his room, Russ “bumped” him. The next morning, the victim discovered his wallet was missing.
6200 block of Peachtree Dunwoody Road 30328 – On July 13 a guest at the Microtel Hotel reported that someone stole $430 cash from their room. Some of the money was placed between two mattresses and the balance was left in a purse in plain view in the room.
200 block of Peachtree Dunwoody Road 30328 – On July 15 a woman reported that someone took the victim’s Honda Civic.
200 block of Northwood Drive 30342 – On July 15, just after 1 p.m., cops were called to a liquor store concerning a man who stole some Tequila Reserve 1800. He had been in the store before, and has had confrontations with the employees. Video shows the man concealing the bottle in his backpack and then leaving the store and catching the bus.
200 block of Franklin Road 30342 – On July 15 a man reported that someone took his 2004 Ford E-350 at some point between 12 and 1:15 p.m. while he was working at a job site. He had left his keys lying on a box near the car.
400 block of Berkley Run 30342 – On July 16 a man reported that someone stole his 1989 Chevrolet Blazer from his apartment complex.
5600 block of Peachtree Dunwoody Road 30342 – On July 16 a woman reported that she and her husband were sleeping in the 4th floor waiting room of St. Joseph’s Hospital. During that time, someone took her purse and two cellphones. The purse was later located by a staff member and returned to her. The phones, cash, as well as personal documents and credit cards are missing. One bank card was later used at the MARTA station for $96.
8800 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On July 16 a liquor store manager reported that two women came in and took a bottle of Malibu Red tequila /rum and a bottle of Smirnoff vodka and left in a grey BMW.
5700 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On July 16 the manager of Ruth’s Chris Steak House reported that three persons left the restaurant without paying the $659 tab they ran up. The Discover credit card tendered but was rejected.
8700 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On July 18 a store’s district manager reported that someone had taken two cash deposits totaling $2,000. They were taken sometime between June 1 and July 11.

800 block of Jett Ferry Manor 30350 – On July 6 the victim reported someone obtained her husband’s identity information and set up an account with Verizon. They found out when they received the $631 bill.
A man reported that someone used his credit card a number of times, totaling just over $200.
Lackland Court 30328 – On July 8 the resident said someone used her American Express card to purchase a Nikon camera, valued at over $900. The camera was sent to her home where she found it just outside the garage. Researching the IP address and other information, it appeared that the person used a personal email that could be tracked and the origin appears to be at Georgia State University. The case is being investigated.
A man reported that he was contacted a little over a year ago by someone who said they represented the Georgia Mega Millions Lottery. They told him he won. The man who contacted the victim said his name was “George Jefferson.” George said the money would be placed in the victim’s credit card account. He would have to make certain payments first, but this would be refunded. In April of this year, the victim made “refundable” payments on his Wells Fargo and Discover credit cards totaling just over $17,000. He never received any money and cannot reach George Jefferson.
300 block of Carpenter Drive 30328 – On July 12 a woman reported that someone had filed taxes using her name and SSN.
6100 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On July 12 an employee of Atlanta Check Cashiers reported that someone presented a fraudulent check that they cashed for $7,000. The suspect is a woman who produced a driver’s license and had her photo made.
1800 block of Sunnybrook Drive 30328 – On July 12 a woman reported that someone used her Wells Fargo debit card to pay a TV bill in the amount of $212.
4000 block of Chatworth Court 30328 – On July 12 a woman reported that someone opened a Kohl’s account in her name on July 5 in the amount of $1,500. The account was maxed out that same day.
500 block of Coldstream Court 30328 – On July 13 a bank officer called police and told the officer that he believed one of his customers was the victim of a fraud. According to the report, the 82-year-old customer withdrew $23,000 via a cashier’s check. The officer spoke to the 82-year-old man who said he was approached a month ago by a woman at the Kroger store in the 200 block of Sandy Springs Place. The woman told him her name was Sophie Adams, and she needed $23,000 for cancer surgery. The victim gave her that amount. Later, they opened a joint account at a SunTrust, and he deposited another $12,000 into the account. The victim said he eventually suspected her because her stories were not consistent.
A woman reported that someone used her personal information to open a fraudulent craigslist.com ad, using her name, with the content of the ad being inappropriate in nature.
7000 block of Sagebrush Drive 30350 – On July 16 someone attempted to open an account with Capital One for $20,000 in the name and with information of the victim. She found out when Capital One called to confirm the information.
We were contacted by the police in Penn Yan, NY, who took a report from a man who received a call from someone identifying himself as the victim’s grandson. The suspect told the man that he had been arrested and needed bail money. The suspect’s “attorney” was present, and took the phone and instructed the victim to send $1,960 to the address listed in the 1900 block of Monterrey Parkway in Sandy Springs. The investigation is continuing.
7800 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On July 18 a woman reported that someone accessed her Kohl’s card and made a July 1 purchase of two handbags totaling $779.
4000 block of Roswell Road 30342 – On July 10 a man reported that at around 9:15 p.m. he was walking along Roswell Road near Chemin De Vie and was hit on the arm by a bottle thrown from a moving car. He was unable to get information on the car other than it was a blue, four-door sedan.
8200 block of Dunwoody Place 30350 – On July 11 a woman reported that her sister came to the QT store to pick her up. Her sister asked for gas money. The victim said “What if I don’t have gas money?” Her sister punched her in the nose and left.
Officers responded a report of a person shot at Greyfield Lane on July 15 just before 10 p.m. They found the 27-year-old victim, who had been shot in the buttocks. Witnesses said the man was arguing with two or three men, when several gunshots were heard. The victim was found outside of his apartment, lying in the grass. The suspects are believed to have left the area in a gold Toyota Corolla. A wallet that may have belonged to one of the suspects was recovered in the parking lot. The victim indicated he did not know the suspects, however the investigation is still underway as to the possible identity of the person who shot the victim and if the victim knew him.
7700 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On July 6, responding to an alarm just after midnight, an officer located a man in a clubhouse where the alarm sounded. The man said he had permission to be in the exercise room of the clubhouse and was waiting on a friend who lived on the property, although he could not tell the officer where that was. The officer found that the man was wanted on a warrant in Sandy Springs for a probation violation. He was arrested on the warrant as well as for loitering and prowling.
6600 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On July 7 cops were called to the Publix store concerning a man who stole a six-pack of beer and left without paying. The suspect left the store and then sat down on the curb in front and began drinking the beer. He was arrested.
6000 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On July 8 a patrol officer was near the parking lot of the Bank of America around 3:30 a.m. The lot is adjacent to the U.S. Post Office where they keep postal vehicles in the back. He saw two persons standing next to a truck. He spoke to the two, who now saw him and were trying to disappear. They walked away, but returned when the officer spoke to them. The man had a stain on the crotch of his pants, and the officer noticed that one of the postal trucks was wet. The man admitted to urinating on the truck and he apologized. The woman with the man was belligerent and said they were being harassed, indicating that the officer probably shouldn’t bother them while her friend was urinating on the postal vehicle. She also objected to her name being run on the GCIC computer. The woman’s information returned on the computer indicating that she was wanted for failure to appear in Troup County. She was arrested.
200 block of Beachland Drive 30342 – On July 8 patrol officers were checking a residential area when they came upon a car, occupied by three people, that was parked in front of a house. An officer spoke with the driver who said she drove there to look at an ATV that she found on craigslist.com she wanted to buy. She could not recall the address or phone number of the person she was supposed to speak with, and upon checking, the officer found no ad on craigslist.com. The officers checked with the resident of the home they were parked in front of and the resident said they did not have an ATV for sale. The more the occupants of the car spoke, the more the stories conflicted. The officers saw items in the car that consisted of jewelry and collectable coins, and a pair of gloves. This matched an earlier burglary lookout on Spalding Drive. All three occupants were turned over to detectives on suspicion of burglary. They were later all charged and jailed on burglary charges.
Cops arrested a man on Morgan Falls Road after a domestic violence call. Turns out the man was driving on that road when his female companion, in the passenger seat, unbuckled her seatbelt and reached into the back of the car to retrieve a receipt. He hit her four or five times in the face. He was arrested.
8700 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On July 12, Publix employees saw and detained a woman who placed $20 in groceries in her purse and then left without paying. She was charged with shoplifting and taken to jail. Also on that date, loss prevention employees nabbed a woman who put several items in her purse and then went to the restroom. She emerged, and then attempted to leave without paying for the groceries valued at just over $48. She was arrested.
8700 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On July 13 a woman was arrested for stealing just over $36 worth of health and beauty items which she concealed in her purse. She was arrested. Also on that date, Publix employees watched a woman load her shopping bag and then leave the store without paying for all of the items at the self-checkout. She was detained and later arrested for the items totaling $154.
8700 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On July 18 officers were called to Publix and met with store staff who witnessed a woman shoplift some baby back ribs valued at just over $17. She was arrested.
6500 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On July 6 officers were called to a dog bite incident. They met the victim, who was sitting in the back of an ambulance, who told them that he was a Jehovah’s Witness and had gone to the door of the home. The victim was met by a man who opened the door. According to the victim, a dog lunged and bit him on the arm, causing the skin to break, requiring stitches. The man at the door said the dog belonged to his son.
1100 block of Hammond Drive 30328 – On July 7 an employee of Rite Aid reported that she found a small bag of marijuana on the floor next to the cash register.
8500 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On July 9 a man reported that he left his shirt at the cleaners on June 29 and when he picked it up, the shirt was faded.
