Mayor Kasim Reed announces breakthrough on stadium at City Hall this morning.

(CBS Atlanta) Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed announced Tuesday that a deal has been reached with Friendship Baptist Church for $19.5 million to make way for the new Falcons stadium. The church board will have to ratify the agreement.

Reed also announced that they will not cut off the conversation with Mt. Vernon Church, which also must be purchased to make room for the “south site” for the stadium.

Last week, the Georgia World Congress Center Authority announced it terminated negotiations with Mount Vernon Baptist Church after the church rejected the last offer of $6.2 million from the GWCCA.
