Clay and Scooter take part in the Stone Soup Kitchen cabaret.

Stone Soup Kitchen will host a cabaret of sorts on on Aug. 9 and 10, serving up an original dinner theater show. The eight-year-old café tried its first-ever dinner plus cabaret on July 12 and had a sellout. The “micro theater in the round” takes place in the enclosed patio of the breakfast-and-lunch café bordering Cabbagetown and Grant Park.

Clay Spurz and Co. will again perform a variety show with songs and skits. Larry (aka “Clay Spurz”) Schulz has written new material for the August shows. Cast members are Joe Kelly (former artistic director of Atlanta Contemporary Dance Company), Lesly “Scooter” Fredman, Alana Cheshire and Schulz.

The price is $30 in advance; includes show, light summer supper, dessert and your first cocktail. Stone Soup Kitchen is located at 584 Woodward Ave., just off Boulevard. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for dinner for dinner service, with show underway by 7:30. Visit stonesoupkitchen.net or call (404) 228-1763.
