Ponce City Market is actively courting outdoor store REI via social media, encouraging fans of the PCM Facebook page to “attend” a virtual event by leaving comments of support. The mixed-used development, being built in the former Sears/City Hall East building in the Old Fourth Ward, has already lured a number of high-profile tenants including Cardlytics, Suzuki School, Binders Art Supplies & Frames and athenahealth.

More than 1,000 people have clicked on the page to say they are attending and there are hundreds of comments.

The PCM invite states: We’ve heard that you want an outdoor store at Ponce City Market. And we hear you! Help us tell REI that our neighborhood would support a new location along the Eastside Trail at PCM. Currently none of our neighbors are able to ride their bike to REI… this could change if they open another location. “Attend” our online Facebook event and comment on the wall to raise awareness and encourage REI to open an intown location along the BeltLine. Don’t forget to tell all your friends!
