Brookhaven City Council voted Oct. 8 to annex the Century Center office complex into the city.

“Welcome to Brookhaven,” said Mayor J. Max Davis following the council’s 4-1 vote. Councilman Jim Eyre said he voted against annexing Century Center because it was tied to rezoning the property.

“We’ve been hasty in reviewing this rezoning,” Eyre said.

The city council’s vote came just weeks before a referendum to annex Century Center and nearby neighborhoods into the city of Chamblee.

The two cities are arguing over who has the rights to annex the property and the matter is expected to be settled in court later this month.
