Sandy Springs Mayor Eva Galambos is backing one of the five challengers running for the city’s District 6 seat.

Galambos, who is not seeking another term, said she got to know Bauman because of his work with the Sandy Springs Farmers Market.

“I also know Andy has a proven track record of success in business and in our community to continue the important work of making Sandy Springs an even greater place to live, work and play,” Galambos said in an emailed statement. “He shares my views on how we can continue to improve the quality of life in our community in a fiscally conservative and responsible manner. I am proud to endorse Andy Bauman for Sandy Springs City Council.”

Bauman said he was “extremely honored” to have Galambos’ support.

“When I am elected I intend to apply all of my energy towards continuing the great work of Mayor Galambos on behalf of the people of Sandy Springs,” Bauman said.

The District 6 seat is being vacated by Karen Meinzen McEnerny. In addition to Bauman, the other candidates are: Sonja Tonpea, Patty Berkovitz, John Stoj and Jennifer Steele.
