Atlanta Police have arrested a man who fired shots at officers near the intersection of Sampson and Irwin street in the Old Fourth Ward around 2:50 p.m. on Oct. 30.

According to a police report, two officers assigned to the Path Force unit were sitting in a patrol car at the Irwin Street Market when a man popped out of nearby bushes and opened fire on them.

The officers, who were not hit, chased the man on foot and eventually caught him. Derrick Lamar Byron, 27, was arrested and charged on numerous counts including reckless conduct, aggravated assault, and use and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
