Dave Walker is running for Seat 8 At-Large on Atlanta Board of Education. Here are the answers to his questions for the Reporter Newspapers voters guide.

Occupation:  I’m a concerned citizen.

Prior political experience: I’ve run for office before, I ran for Mayor against Shirley Franklin. I ran for City Council president in 1997 and 2009.

Why are you running for this position? I’m running because there’s a terrible disconnect between citizens and the board and board and the teachers and teachers and the children. Somebody has to bring back some sensibility to this. I’m also running to make sure the business community kicked out of the process, all the way out.

Why should voters choose you? The voters should choose me because, like the voters, I’m a simple man  trying to get kids educated on a legitimate level. The other candidates that are running, if you’ll pull their disclosure, there’s no difference between them and the sitting board. All they want to do is connect so they can look good in the community. Somebody has to run for the kids’ sake.
