Voting in the city of Atlanta has been extended until 8 p.m.
The Fulton County Board of Registration and Elections confirmed that it is keeping the polls open one extra hour at the request of city of Atlanta officials. City of Atlanta candidates have been emailing supporters this evening urging them to vote, citing low turnout since polls opened today.
In Buckhead, there are elections for Atlanta Board of Education District 4, Seat 8 at A Large and Atlanta City Council Districts 7 and 9.
All other polls in Fulton County are closing at 7 p.m.
Patty Berkovitz, who is running for District 6 City Council in Sandy Springs, contacted Reporter Newspapers and said her supporters had received incorrect ballots for District 5. Berkovitz said she received her first call about voting problems at 10 a.m. Berkovitz said thought her supporters were going to be able to vote in District 6, but as of 6 p.m. on Tuesday Fulton County election officials were telling her that the votes for District 5 will stand.
“I just want citizens to vote, whoever it is they’re going to vote for,” Berkovitz said.
