An off-duty Atlanta Police officer working an approved extra job was shot in the face and leg last night at the Edgewood Court Apartments on Hardee Street, just off Moreland Avenue. According to police reports, the shooting took place around 10 p.m.
According to a media report, while the officer was working the job, he was ambushed by a suspect that was carrying a shotgun. The suspect fired at the officer, striking him in the face and leg. The search for the gunman continues.
The wounded officer, Christopher L. Smith, was released from Grady Hospital early this morning.
Edgewood Court apartments again with shooting and violence. The management needs to assist the police in shutting down the gunplay or face loss of city housing funding. This must end before the next attack kills someone. This is a terrible event and I pray for the injured officer.
