mlk-sign-webAtlanta City Councilmember Kwanza Hall will host a community workshop to update the zoning regulations of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Landmark District on Monday, Nov. 18, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Big Bethel AME Church, 220 Auburn Avenue, N.E.

As part of his 2013 Year of Boulevard initiative, and in anticipation of the spring 2014 launch of the Atlanta Streetcar, Hall has brought together local residents, business owners, and property owners to update the area’s zoning. “The Atlanta Streetcar is a once-in-a-generation economic development opportunity for the Sweet Auburn corridor,” said Hall. “This process is helping us to preserve the history and architectural integrity of the corridor at the same time that we prepare it for a new wave of investment and small business activity.”

Hall’s partners in the process are the City of Atlanta’s Office of Planning, Central Atlanta Progress, and Sweet Auburn Works.

Visit for background information and previous meeting summaries. Free parking for the meeting is available in the lot behind the church. Access the lot from the entrance on John Wesley Dobbs Avenue.
