A New York developer wants to build three new skyscrapers on the site of what would have been the Atlanta Symphony’s new home in Midtown. According to a report in the Atlanta Business Chronicle, the plans call for a 56-story residential/hotel tower and two 46-story residential towers. The 4.5-acre site at 98 14th Street is sandwiched between One Atlantic Center and the 1180 Peachtree tower.

  1. That seems like a lot of housing. I realize that rental demand is high right now. But I believe the demand has been inflated by the number of foreclosures and short sales which have dumped a lot of home owners into the rental market. Within the next few years, these people are going to once again qualify for mortgages and a large percentage will leave the rental market and step back into home ownership. I hope developers are not short-sighted and over build.

  2. I’m for the extra density but I’m concerned about the effects on the traffic on 14th Street. This stretch seems to flow properly only late at night and before the sun comes up. I hope this is not overlooked if approved.
