Savor Wine Boutique ( has opened its doors in the in the mixed-use development of Kirkwood Station at 1963 Hosea L. Williams Drive, Suite R-103. Owners Kyla and Gregory Cox have curated a unique collection of artisan wine (small batches by independent producers) and allow guests to “try before they buy” at weekly educational tastings, classes and special events.

Bantam and Biddy ( owners Shaun Doty and Lance Gummere have announced they will open a second location of their chicken themed restaurant in the 12th and Midtown development. At press time, the restaurant was expected to open mid-month. A third location is planned in Alpharetta.

Royal Sweets (, a new Indian-inspired restaurant, is now open at 1685 Church St. in Decatur.

A Buckhead Village mainstay since 1993, The Cheesecake Factory ( has announced it will move to Lenox Square next year. The current location on Peachtree Road will remain open

Bell Street Burritos ( has shuttered its Irwin Street Market location in the Old Fourth Ward after just a little more than a year in business. However, a new location of the burrito joint has opened in South Buckhead at 1816 Peachtree Road. A new restaurant, Bob (, has opened in the Irwin Street Market space, 660 Irwin St., offering a skewer-themed menu with chicken, steak, tofu and fresh veggies.

MAX’s Wine Dive ( will open at 12th and Midtown in mid-2014. The Houston-based chain offers an eclectic menu with items like fried chick and mashed potatoes and fried egg sandwiches paired with hand-picked wines.

If you’re in Decatur and in dire need of a burrito bowl, a new Chipotle ( has opened in the SunTrust building at the corner of Commerce and West Ponce.


At press time, Beverly Hills-based Sprinkles Cupcakes ( was set to open a new sweet shop at Lenox Square this month. There will be an ice cream shop and the famed Cupcake ATM, which will be constantly restocked with fresh treats available with a swipe of your charge card.

Chef Ford Fry (The Optimist, King + Duke,  JCT. Kitchen) is expected to announce the opening date of his new restaurant, St. Cecilia, any day now. The seafood and pasta concept will be located in the former Bluepointe space in Buckhead.

Doc Chey’s in Morningside announced that $8,000 was raised during the Morningside Mile Block Party to benefit historic Fire Station #19 in Virginia Highland.
