Lake Forrest Drive reopened to traffic on Feb. 21, Sandy Springs city officials said.

Sandy Springs City Councilman Andy Bauman announced the opening in an email: “At long last, I am happy to report that the Lake Forrest Drive repairs have been completed and the road is now open to both north and southbound traffic,” he wrote.

“This closure has been a major inconvenience not just to residents in the LFD corridor but to our surrounding neighborhoods where traffic patterns have had to adjust and for folks traveling along the Roswell Road corridor.”

City officials closed a segment of Lake Forrest last summer in order to stabilize the road, which had been plagued by rock slides. The city said it had 13 reports of mud and rock slides along the road since 2009.
