The City of Briarcliff Initiative will hold its first post-legislatve meeting on April 22 at 7 p.m. at Briarcliff United Methodist Church, 4105 Briarcliff Road.

The meeting will serve to recap the failed attempt at cityhood during the 2014 Georgia Legislative session and to begin the process of creating “Version 2″ for consideration under the Gold Dome in 2015. Cityhood movements by Briarcliff, Lakeside and Tucker never made it to a vote.

“We see this as an opportunity to create something special at the local level that can unite us as a community,” said Briarcliff Initiative executive board member Keith Hanks in an email to supporters.

Lakeside, which overlaps some of the north DeKalb territory staked out by Briarcliff, and Tucker have all said they will pursue getting bills before the Georgia Legislature next year. For more visit http://briarcliffga.org.
