Dozens of residents in the Candler Park neighborhood are trying to rally support against a proposed plan by AT&T to build a cell phone antenna inside the steeple of Epworth United Methodist Church on McLendon Avenue, according to a report from our affiliate CBS46. Some parents who have children who attending preschool at the church are worried about potential health risks, but church officials said there is no danger. The antenna will not be visible and the lease payment by AT&T will benefit the church and school.

College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) scores were released yesterday, April 21, by the Georgia Department of Education from the 2013 and 2012 school years. The Early College High School at Carver was the top high school in the Atlanta Public Schools system, while Kipp Strive Academy was the top performing middle school and Morningside Elementary School had the highest score among elementary schools. Novare Group intends to buy a nearly 1.5-acre site at the corner West Peachtree and 14th streets to build a new residential tower, according to Atlanta Business Chronicle. The corner is currently home to Einstein Bros. Bagels and other tenants.
