To the editor:

I noted your article headlined “Walgreens seeking approval to build on Peachtree” [Brookhaven Reporter, April 4 – 17].

Attorney Doug Dillard, as usual, suggested that the overlay district is “too restrictive.” Kathy Forbes of the Brookhaven Peachtree Community Alliance had to correctly remind us that “the overlay is not a set of suggestions. It is a zoning code.”

Let me further remind Mr. Dillard that “if you have too many exceptions to a policy, you have no policy.” A policy is not a convenience to be tossed aside at will, but a responsibility to be met to ensure our future.
