Gov. Nathan Deal has won the Republican primary to square off Democratic challenger Jason Carter in the November election. Deal was up against two Republican challengers, David Pennington and John Barge.

Democrat Michelle Nunn has also been declared the primary winner in the US Senate. She will square off against either Jack Kingston or David Perdue, the two Republican contenders who are headed to the July 22 runoff.

It also looks like Republicans Beth Beskin and John McCloskey are headed for a runoff for the Dist. 54 Georgia House seat.

In newly-formed Fulton County Commission Dist. 3, Republican Lee Morris appeared to have edged out three other contenders – Alexander Palacios, Cory Ruth and Bernie Tokarz. There was no Democratic challenger.

For Fulton County Commission Dist. 5 seat, Marvin S. Arrington Jr. and Brenda J. Muhammad also appeared to be headed for the July 22 runoff in a crowded field of all Democratic candidates that included  Dell Byrd. Johnnie Gordon, and Kwame Thompson.
