Sandy Springs police say Dr. Kelly Thrasher was arrested in Miami, Fla.,by the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Dr. Kelly Thrasher was arrested in Miami Wednesday night, May 21, by the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, according to the Sandy Springs Police Department.

Sandy Springs Police had announced earlier this week they were looking for the suspended doctor, who is accused of child molestation.

Sandy Springs detectives obtained warrants accusing Thrasher of identity fraud and second-degree forgery. Police say Thrasher obtained a U.S. Passport under another name.

Police said Thrasher was indicted in Fulton County for child molestation following a police investigation in 2012. In January, Thrasher was charged by the state medical boards with practicing medicine without a license after the board received complaints that Thrasher was seeing patients in his office in violation of the medical board’s suspension of his license pending the disposition of the earlier cases, police said.

The Marshals had received information leading them to a Days Inn Hotel in the South Beach area. Thrasher was located and taken into custody in the hotel room without incident. He had approximately $30,000 cash with him, and is being held at the Metro West Detention Center in Miami awaiting extradition.
