The Brookhaven Police Department arrested a 14-year-old boy in connection with a shooting that occurred along Buford Highway. A firearm and other items of evidence where found inside the juvenile’s apartment.

The shooting occurred just after midnight on June 4. Officers responded to the 3200 block of Buford Highway in reference to a shots fired call. Officers were not able to find anyone in the area involved in the shooting. While officers were checking that area a call was received from Grady Hospital about a male with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg.

Brookhaven Police detectives worked the case throughout the day, which led to identifying the suspect, according to police. The arrest and search warrants were served June 6 at the boy’s home at Regency Woods Apartments.

He was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a handgun by a minor, and carrying a handgun without a license. He is currently being held at the DeKalb Regional Youth Detention Center.
