A Sandy Springs-based men’s chorus is heading to Las Vegas to compete with top barbershop choruses from around the world.
The Atlanta Vocal Project is sending about 40 singers to compete July 4 during the Barbershop Harmony Society’s convention, members of the group said. The Sandy Springs chorus will sing “This Joint Is Jumpin’” and “Maybe This Time,” vice president David Crenhsaw said.
The group won a spot in the competition by placing first last year the district that includes Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee, Crenshaw said. About 30 groups are expected to take part in the international competition, he said.
The Atlanta Vocal Project is an auditioned group of male singers ranging in age from 16 to 83 and they perform regularly around the Atlanta area.
