Kimberly Laverne Ward

Kimberly Laverne Ward, the only woman on the Top 10 Most Wanted list, has been arrested by the Atlanta Police Department’s fugitive squad and FBI.  Ward was wanted for the attempted murder of her ex-boyfriend in 2012 on Holly Street. Ward was found working in poultry  plant in Claxton and was living in Savannah. She has been charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery and kidnapping.

Metro Atlanta’s unemployment rate rose in June, according to a report in the Atlanta Business Chronicle. Metro Atlanta’s unemployment rate for June was 7.6 percent – up four-tenths of a percentage point from 7.2 percent in May. The rate in June 2013 year was 8.6 percent. There were 2,460,900 jobs in Atlanta in June, down by 4,000, from May. Virtually all of the loss came in public and private educational services, along with social assistance, which includes pre-school and daycare centers.

More than 1,000 people – along with local politicians – attended a rally Wednesday night in Midtown to show their support for Israel as it continues to battle with Hamas. According to WSB, Israeli Consul General Opher Aviran,  Fulton County Commission Chair John Eaves,  Mayor Kasim Reed, David Perdue and Jason Carter all stopped by the rally.
