Brookhaven Police detectives have charged four suspects as a result of the ongoing shooting investigation, though no one has been charged with murder. The names and charges of those arrested are not being released due to the active investigation.

Update, July 31, 7:30 p.m.:

Brookhaven police have identified the victim in Thursday’s shooting as 23-year-old Justin Acevedo.

Just before noon, the Brookhaven Police Department responded to reports of a person shot on North Cliff Valley Way at Coosawattee Drive. Officers found a Hispanic male victim with a gunshot wound to the chest laying on the side of the roadway. The victim was transported by ambulance to an Atlanta area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses stated that a Hispanic male suspect fled on foot into Parke Towne North Apartments. Detectives processed the crime scene for evidence and executed a search warrant at an apartment in the complex. The on-scene investigation has now concluded. Detectives are actively pursuing leads and talking to witnesses, according to a press release from the police department.

Update, July 31, 3:45 p.m.:

The investigation of the shooting at Park Towne North has been upgraded to a homicide investigation, according to Brookhaven Police.

One person has been injured in a shooting at Park Towne North Apartments on North Cliff Valley Way, according to the Brookhaven Police Department.

Police are searching for the shooter, believed to be a Hispanic man, 11Alive is reporting.
