Brookhaven Police have charged Juan Carlos Ramirez, 18, of Brookhaven with the July 31 murder of Justin Acevedo on North Cliff Valley Way at Coosawattee Drive.
Detectives found the gun believed to been used along with other evidence including marijuana. According to police, Ramirez and Acevedo were involved in a verbal confrontation when the shooting occurred. Both lived at Parke Towne North Apartments. Brookhaven Police officers responded to the shooting and secured the scene and the apartment complex where witnesses reported seeing a group of people, including the shooter, running.
Officers located a group of four people that they believed were involved. Three others were also arrested and charged in connection with the incident. All four were taken to the DeKalb County Jail.
Ramirez was also charged with felony possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and felony possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Ileanna Martinez, 21, of Brookhaven, was charged with felony tampering of evidence; giving a false name and birthday, a misdemeanor; and misdemeanor marijuana possession.
Petra Pineda Cortez, 18, of Brookhaven was charged with disorderly conduct and obstruction of law enforcement
Francisco Munoz, 22, of Brookhaven was charged with disorderly conduct and obstruction of law enforcement.
