music-midtown-logo134224The Atlanta Veterans Affairs Regional Benefit Office did not accurately process 38 percent of the disability claims reviewed in an audit by the VA Office of the Inspector General. According to a report from our media affiliate CBS46, the VA office of the Inspector General reviewed 90 claims that the office felt had a high risk of processing errors. The results do not represent the overall accuracy of the claims processed, according to the report.

The 2014 Music Midtown special events application, scheduled to go before Neighborhood Planning Unit-E last night, was deferred until the group’s Sept. 2 meeting – only 17 days before the two-day concert will take place in Piedmont Park. According to Saporta Report, the Midtown Neighbors Association, one of the communities that is part of the NPU-E planning area, voted against the Music Midtown application at its monthly meeting on July 31.The application was deferred so Music Midtown promoters could continue working with the City of Atlanta and the community to address issues of concerns, according to NPU-E leaders.

The AJC is reporting that Mount Vernon Baptist Church, one of two historic churches affected by the new Falcons stadium, has closed on a property at 815 Lynhurst Drive, in Atlanta. The site is the former home of Zion Hill Baptist Church.
