Sandy Springs Police have identified the shooter in this morning’s murder-suicide as Dan Wilkins, 65, of Wood Valley Trail in Roswell. He was the estranged husband of Sharon Wilkins who came to the home on Chaparral Drive this morning just before 9 a.m. According to police, he shot Sharon Wilkins and then himself as police arrived. The house is owned by Sharon Wilkin’s mother, who was in the house at the time of the shooting. She was not injured.

Update, 11:10 a.m., Aug. 13:

Both a woman and man are dead in what Sandy Springs police are calling a possible murder-suicide. According to police, a 911 call was received from the victim’s mother, who said the woman had been shot multiple times, and that the shooter was still on the scence.

When police arrived, they found 54-year-old Sharon Wilkins in the home with multiple wounds. She was taken to North Fulton Hospital, where she later died. Police also found a man, believed to be her husband, dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. His identity has not been released.

Sandy Springs Police say that one person is dead and another wounded in a shooting in the 7000 block of Chaparral Drive.

A woman has been taken to North Fulton Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds, while a man, believed to be the wounded woman’s husband, was found dead in the residence near the Dunwoody Country Club.

According to CBS Atlanta, the man shot his wife before killing himself.

Police are advising folks to stay away from the area.
