More than 150,000 are expected to descend on Piedmont Park in Midtown this weekend, Sept. 19-20, for Music Midtown. Some of music’s biggest acts will be playing in the park, including  Eminem,  John Mayer, Jack White, Lana Del Rey, Lorde, Iggy Azalea, Bastille, Run DMC and Gregg Allman. General admission is $125 for a two-day ticket at musicmidtown.com.

In a media statement, the Atlanta Police Department said it is preparing to manage crowds and traffic related to Music Midtown. Parking around the venue is extremely limited, and police will be ticketing and towing illegally-parked vehicles (especially those blocking driveways), so attendees are encouraged to take MARTA or other alternate modes of transportation.

In addition, be mindful there will be road closures primarily in the area of 10th street between Myrtle Street and Monroe Drive.

APD’s  security plan includes a strong law enforcement presence, consisting of both on-duty and off-duty officers. Additional police presence in the form of Mounted Patrol, BeltLine Unit, and bicycle patrols will be available to assist with traffic and security issues.

“Our officers will be working this weekend to help ensure this is a fun event for attendees and also managing traffic and crowds around Piedmont Park,” Chief George Turner said.  “The Atlanta Police Department has experience managing these large events and seldom encounter major problems. But we certainly urge event goers to take MARTA, and to take some common sense safety measures.”
