The commander for the Dunwoody/Sandy Springs Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10822 recently honored one of Sandy Springs’ finest.
Capt. John Mullin nominated Detective Mike Tuvlin for the award in part for his work in solving four homicide cases, Capt. Steve Rose said. Post Commander Loren Cook presented the award Sept. 8 (pictured above).
Rose said Tuvlin has become a proven leader amongst his peers in the Criminal Investigation Division, with a work ethic that is second to none, which can be seen in his work results.
“He has earned the trust of his supervisors to handle any complex or high profile case,” Rose said, adding Tuvlin developed a reputation for going out in the field and assisting the patrol division when needed.
“In short, Detective Tuvlin is extremely competent, reliable and has quickly become recognized as one of the department’s most outstanding detectives,” Rose said.
Tuvlin has made numerous quality arrests within the last year and has been complemented on several cases. Most notably, Rose said, Tuvlin was the lead investigator on the last four homicides that occurred in Sandy Springs. Several of these cases were complex investigations, which required Tuvlin to delegate numerous investigative tasks to his peers.
“Thanks to his leadership, all of the work on these cases was completed within the appropriate time frame and the cases were ultimately solved,” Rose said.
