A smoking ban at all University System of Georgia campuses is scheduled to go into effect tomorrow, Oct. 1, according to our media affiliate CBS46. The University System of Georgia smoking and tobacco ban goes into effect Wednesday and applies to all 31 member institutions. Officials have said the tobacco ban will apply to all employees, students, contractors and visitors on all property owned, leased rented or in the possession of the University System of Georgia. The ban will also apply to events being hosted by institutions within the system. The ban includes Georgia Tech, Georgia State, Georgia Perimeter and Atlanta Metropolitan.

Decaturish has an update on the planned bike lane projects in Midtown, which include widening and installing a protective barrier on 5th Street and West Peachtree;  installation of “sharrows” on portions of Peachtree Street; traffic buffers at Pine Street and Ralph McGill Boulevard; and the extension of the cycle track on 10th Street.

Atlanta developer Regent Partners is proposing a large mixed-use project that features a 550,000-square-foot office tower next to the Buckhead MARTA station and pedestrian bridge. According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle,  the project would also include 300 apartments and 50 condos, and about 9,500 square feet of retail space, according to initial plans.
