Terry Demetrice Sawyer, 43, is charged with financial transaction card fraud, forgery in the third degree and elder exploitation.

A Decatur woman has been arrested and charged with three felonies against a man who she was caring for before his death.

Terry Demetrice Sawyer, 43, is charged with financial transaction card fraud, forgery in the third degree and elder exploitation. Sawyer was a caregiver for the 92-year-old victim prior to his death, police said in a release. She acted as an independent contractor and was not affiliated with any home care agency. During the course of her employment, Sawyer wrote numerous checks to herself from the victim’s checkbook and continued to use the victim’s credit cards after his death.

The Dunwoody Police Department is also seeking assistance in identifying any other citizens who may have been victimized by Sawyer. If you have any further information, please contact Detective Lauda at 678-382-6914.
