A group of residents who are urging Brookhaven residents to vote against giving redevelopment powers to the city council are scheduled to hold more public meetings.

The Brookhaven Redevelopment Referendum Committee will host “Community Chats” on Oct. 6 at 3616 Sunderland Circle from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.; at THERE in Town Brookhaven on Oct. 14 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.; and at 2709 Redding Road on Oct. 22 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

“The Redevelopment Powers Law is a complex and poorly-understood law that would grant Brookhaven city government expansive powers to issue new debt without citizen input or approval,” committee chair Catherine Bernard said.
