Four Riverwood International Charter School students, after an audition and interview process, were selected to participate in a four-week 2014 Governor’s Honors Program at Valdosta State University. Students Garon Berenson in technology, Max Kantor in theater, Callaway Powlus in music and Pascal Acree in biology were selected. GHP is a residential summer program for approximately 700 intellectually gifted and artistically talented high school juniors and seniors from across the state. Students spend their mornings in their major area of nomination exploring topics not usually found in the regular high school classroom. During the afternoons, students choose one of the other 20 areas in which to study. Evenings are filled with seminars, activities, concerts and performances. Now in its 51st year, GHP is fully funded by the Georgia General Assembly.
