The city of Sandy Springs is seeking nominations for its 2015 Humanitarian Award honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The award recognizes an individual who embodies King’s character and service. Nominees must live or work within the city of Sandy Springs to be eligible.

“We have many great people who do amazing things to help those less fortunate within our community,” said Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul in a press release. “The Humanitarian Award provides us with the opportunity to publically recognize and thank these volunteers.”

The nomination form can be found online at Nominations are due by noon Dec. 5. A volunteer committee will review the nominations and select the award recipient. Hugo Mullins, CEO and owner of Family Ties Inc., received the 2014 award.

The award will be presented during the city’s annual MLK Day festivities on Jan. 19.
