A community leader and journalist will be the keynote speaker at Sandy Springs’ MLK Day Celebration.
M. Alexis Scott, a member of the executive team of the Center for Civil and Human Rights, Atlanta Daily World publisher and Georgia Gang commentator, will speak at the event at 10 a.m. on Jan. 19 at City Hall, 7840 Roswell Road, Building 500.
The city’s 2015 Humanitarian Award will be presented during the celebration. The event will also include remarks by Pastor Henry Bush of Sharon Community Church, Rabbi Scott Colbert of Temple Emanu El and Reverend Michael Sullivan with Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church. Students from North Springs Charter High School and the Spalding Charter Elementary School Choir will also participate.
The celebration is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
