A man was shot three times by police and taken to the North Fulton Hospital just before 5 p.m. on Jan. 30. Sgt. Ronald Momon of Sandy Springs police confirmed the shooting at an apartment complex at 330 Winding River Drive.
Initial reports to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation say that the officers responded to a 911 call regarding a domestic situation between a mother and her son. According to an emailed press statement, when officers arrived at the location they were confronted by Abayomi Royalston, 26, who “brandished a handgun.”
The sergeant and one of the officers fired multiple shots at Royalston, striking him three times. Royalston was transported to North Fulton Hospital to be treated for his injuries. None of the officers were injured during the incident. The GBI will conduct a thorough investigation to determine what occurred during the incident. When the investigation is complete, it will be turned over to the district attorney.
