From police reports dated Feb. 8-21

The following information was provided to the Buckhead Reporter by the Zone 2 precinct of the Atlanta

Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.

Robbery

2300 block of Marietta Boulevard—On Feb. 13, a woman pumping gas observed a man inside her vehicle who was taking her purse. They struggled when she attempted to get her purse back, and the man pushed her to the ground. The man got into his vehicle and drove over the woman’s leg as he fled the parking lot. A purse that contained a pair of sunglasses and a Wells Fargo checkbook was taken. Grady EMS arrived on scene. The woman refused treatment.

1200 block of Collier Road—On Feb. 13, a man walked up to a vehicle, jumped through the passenger window and demanded the driver get out. The driver’s hand was injured as she hurriedly exited the vehicle. A backpack that contained a diamond wedding ring, an engagement diamond ring, a sapphire ring, an emerald ring, a ring with a red gem stone, anxiety medication, a U.S. passport, a license and an Acer laptop were in the back seat of the vehicle.

1000 block of Garden View Drive—On Feb. 9, a woman involved in an argument with a man asked him to leave after he damaged the front door and other items inside the residence. When the man’s father arrived to pick him up, the man became angry and took her cellphone. He then pushed her to the ground and took her house key. Police noted the residence was in disarray, red liquid was on the floor, the door was splintered and several tables were turned on their sides. Grady Hospital medics arrived to treat the woman’s right knee. The man fled through the rear of the complex.

2500 block of Piedmont Road—On Feb. 10, a man at a discount department store concealed several items on his person and tried to leave without paying. He exposed an open pocket knife and began swinging at a loss prevention officer. He ran and was apprehended a short distance away. While searching him, an officer was stuck by a needle hidden in the man’s sock.

1900 block of Howell Mill Road—On Feb. 17, two men wearing hoodies with bandanas covering the lower portion of their faces entered a sandwich shop and said, “This is a robbery.” The first man brandished a pistol in his right hand, and ordered an employee to “open the cash drawer.” The second man walked to the rear of the store and returned a short time thereafter. The first man removed $225 from the cash drawer and demanded to know where the rest of the money was. Both employees gestured to the floor safe but said they did not have the access code. The second man removed an additional $70 from a black metal coin box from on top of the safe. As the men left, a late model Chrysler 300 pulled up, and a man wearing a baseball hat entered the location. When the employees said they were just robbed, the man turned around a walked out. A bottle of Amoxicillin and 800 mg Ibuprofen also were taken from a backpack.

600 block of Morosgo Drive—On Feb. 16, an officer saw two people fighting and heard someone yelling for help. When he pulled into the parking lot, he saw someone running to a black, four-door Pontiac G6. The officer caught the person after a brief chase, Tasing him as he tried to jump over a fence. The officer sustained injuries to his forehead and shoulder when he drove into the passenger side of the person’s vehicle.

3100 block of Piedmont Road—On Feb. 21, a man entered a salon holding a black pistol in his left hand. He was cursing and demanding “give me the stash.” He then grabbed from the center table a purse that contained $90 in cash, a Samsung Galaxy S5 and credit cards. He then pointed the gun at a girl (a minor) and again demanded she give him her purse. The first woman was followed into the shampoo room where she handed the man an MCM purse that contained a blue wallet, credit card and a Samsung Galaxy 4 cellphone. The man with the gun yelled “Stupid (expletive deleted)” as he ran to the driver seat of a newer model two-door black hatchback that contained a passenger.

500 block of Main Street—On Feb. 16, a woman and her husband were involved in a verbal argument that turned physical. The woman said her husband shoved her over a folding table, pushing her onto the couch. When she tried to flee to the balcony, he again shoved her. When she began screaming loudly, the husband went back inside and locked the door. She was able to jimmy the lock and enter inside the residence. They struggled briefly and he hit her in the eye with his head. The husband left the residence, taking his wife’s cellphone with him. There were no signs of struggle or any visible injuries to the woman when police arrived, and the husband was not at the residence.

Aggravated Assault

700 block of Paces Ferry Road—On Feb. 8, a verbal argument between two men in a car turned physical. One man punched the other in the face until he was unconscious and threw him out a moving vehicle. Patrol units noted the beaten man had visible injuries to his head and his eyes were bleeding and swollen shut. The man who beat the other man later turned himself in at the Zone 2 Precinct and was taken to Fulton County Jail.

2800 block of Northside Drive—A middle school student said another student kicked her and her head hit the floor when she fell. There have been complaints of on-going bullying by the students’ classmates.

Residential Burglary

1400 block of Wesley Walk—A house was broken into. Someone broke the window lock on a rear side window and entered through the family room. Several closets and drawers were left open and a Samsung 32-inch TV a Samsung 42-inch TV, an Apple iPad, an Apple iPhone, a Chanel wallet, a set of house and car keys, a Wells Fargo debit card, an American Express card and a personal check were taken. The residents were upstairs sleeping, heard a noise and assumed it was their cats. The stolen cards were used at gas stations on Chapel Road.

2000 block of Main Street—A burglary was reported when an employee arrived and heard a person depart from the rear of the residence. No items were taken. The rear window was discovered open the day prior.

1700 block of Ridgeway Avenue—A burglary was reported at a house. A DVD player and 16 pairs of shoes were taken.

1300 block of Northside Drive—A burglary was reported at a hotel. A Bose Acoustic wave music system, an HP laptop, a Sony CD player, an Apple iPhone 6 charger and two black, custom-made suits were taken.

3400 block of Kingsboro Road—A burglary was reported at an apartment where a witness reported seeing two men standing near the front door looking back at her. Video surveillance captured a black Chrysler 300 in the parking lot next to a white Mercedes Benz. An item that could not be identified was removed from the Chrysler and placed into the trunk of the Mercedes.

200 block of Peachtree Hills Circle—A burglary at an apartment was reported after a resident returned to find the back door open and discovered 100 pieces of antique silverware missing from the china cabinet.

2300 block of Parkland Drive—A burglary at an apartment was reported when crowbar damage was discovered to the front door. A pair of gold earrings, a gold necklace and a gold bracelet were taken.

1100 block of Lavista Road—A burglary was reported at an apartment where pry marks were discovered on a front door. An Apple Pro Mac Book charger, a jewelry box with “JKA” embroidered on it, miscellaneous jewelry and an Apple MacBook Pro laptop were taken. A second apartment had damage to its front door molding, but no items were taken.

1100 block of Seaboard AvenueThe front door to a house was kicked in and the home’s interior was ransacked. An Apple MacBook laptop, a Toshiba laptop, a Dell laptop and three gold necklaces were taken. A person jogging observed two men in a white Dodge Avenger speeding away from the driveway.

First block of MontclairA burglary was reported after a home’s rear door was pried open and the back yard gate was found open. A gym bag and a bottle that contained $700 in coins and cash were taken.

3400 block of Stratford RoadA burglary was reported at an apartment where the front door lock and frame around the lock were damaged. A Samsung Curve 65-inch TV, an Apple iPad Air, an Over Under 12-gauge shotgun and car keys to a 2014 Porsche Boxster were taken.

400 block of Lindbergh PlaceA burglary of an apartment was reported. The back door window was found broken. An Acer desktop computer, an Xbox One, an Xbox 360, three Xbox 360 games and an Axtro Wave wireless headset were taken.

Commercial Burglary

First block of East Andrews DriveA burglary was reported when a front door was found pulled open. No items were taken.

100 block of West Paces Ferry Road—A burglary was reported at an apartment where a lock was cut and a bicycle worth $1,200 was taken.

200 block of West Wieuca Road—A burglary at a car wash was reported where a shed door was broken and $200 was taken from a cash register.

2100 block of Piedmont Road—A commercial burglary was reported when the front glass on three businesses was shattered with rocks and the flat screen televisions in all three businesses were tampered with in an attempt to remove them. A cash box that contained $400 was taken from a cupcake store. Several leather jackets, leather pants and sequin jackets totaling $5,000 were taken from a clothing store. A 50-inch flat screen TV was dropped and broken when the burglars attempted to remove it from the wall of the clothing store.

2700 block of Defoors Ferry Road—A burglary of an apartment complex’s maintenance storage room was reported where the front door locks were damaged. A battery-operated saw, a battery-operated drill, a black electric saw, two sets of wrenches and a red air compressor were taken.

Auto Theft

3400 block of Northside Parkway—A grey 2015 Nissan Versa was reported stolen from a gas station parking lot when the owner left the vehicle running with the keys in the ignition and went inside the store.

3100 block of Piedmont Road—A grey 2005 Chrysler Sebring was reported stolen from a parking lot.

First block of Irby Avenue—A grey 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer was reported stolen from a parking lot. The owner left the vehicle running with the keys in the ignition and went inside. Upon returning, the vehicle was missing.

2100 block of Peachtree Road—A grey 2014 Chevy Camaro was reported stolen from a parking lot. The owner discovered her vehicle missing from the parking lot where she works after leaving the keys inside.

3300 block of Peachtree Road—A silver 2014 Nissan Sentra was reported stolen from a parking lot of a hotel. The owner was standing outside the vehicle, heard the door close and the vehicle drive off. The owner was in possession of the key fob.

900 block of Lenox Hill Court—A grey 2007 Volkswagen Jetta was reported stolen from the parking lot for condos.

2500 block of Piedmont Road—An attempt to steal a blue 2000 Chrysler Sebring in the parking lot of Home Depot was reported. The owner discovered the driver side and ignition damaged.

700 block of Sidney Marcus Boulevard—An attempt to steal a black 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee from an apartment parking lot was reported. The owner discovered a rock in her passenger seat and the ignition damaged.

700 block of Lindbergh Drive—An attempt to steal a black 2005 Chrysler Sebring from an apartment parking lot was reported. The driver side door lock and ignition lock were damaged.

Thefts/Larcenies:

Between Feb. 8 and 14, a total of 46 thefts from automobiles were reported and an additional 30 reports of other larcenies, including shoplifting, were made. Between Feb. 15 and Feb. 21, a total of 24 thefts from automobiles were reported and 31 additional larcenies were reported.
