A DeKalb County grand jury indicted Robert Lundsten on six counts of theft by taking and three counts of making false statements. Lundsten served as former Commissioner Elaine Boyer’s chief of staff. According to the indictment, Lundsten, who is no longer employed with DeKalb County government, lied about expenses to Kroger and UPS.
“Anytime there are suspected incidents where tax dollars have possibly been misappropriated or abused is an issue for my office,” said DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James. “We take matters of alleged public corruption very seriously and will continue our work in bringing justice to those who abuse and illegally misuse money from the tax payers of DeKalb County.
Boyer was sentenced by a federal judge to serve 14 months for a wire and mail fraud ploy that bilked DeKalb taxpayers of more than $80,000.
