The members of Spalding Woods Club voted on Feb 28 to sell property to Traton Homes developers for townhomes, according to a Facebook Page.

No less than 90 townhomes will be constructed on 11 acres, the Page said.

A group fighting to save the property from development cited increased traffic that would add to commute times and lowered overall home values for current residents.

“The city will lose 11 acres of green space, Spalding Woods Neighborhood will lose its woods and one of the few properties in the area undeveloped showcasing the natural beauty of the area will disappear,” a post on Feb. 19 said.
